What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Teeth bleaching to eliminate discoloration and color inconsistency, and make your smile brighter and whiter. Angwin Dental uses a bleach formulation that is up to several times stronger and more effective than off-the-shelf brands.
Porcelain veneers are thin, custom made casings that cover the front side of your teeth. They correct uneven teeth, worn enamel, discoloration, chipped teeth and irregular spacing, and can serve a restorative purpose and protect a damaged tooth from further harm. Proven to last more than 20 years, porcelain veneers are stain resistant, soft on gums, and give your teeth a naturally pleasing appearance.
Depending on the type of treatment you have received for your dental problem, it might be necessary to:
- Have your tooth restored to its original size and shape
- Supply additional physical support for the treated tooth
- Get a complete “makeover” on the affected tooth
For cases like these, a crown is the most logical option. Crowns cover every visible part of the tooth – which is why they are sometimes referred to as “caps.” A part of your tooth remains but is essentially “rebuilt” to resemble the tooth at its exterior best. While porcelain crowns often improve the look of a tooth, it is recommended only in conjunction with prior repair of the tooth and not for cosmetic purposes.
Binding is the method in which a tooth-colored material; is placed on your tooth to change the shape, color and/or contour. It can be used to fix small chips, and covering spaces between teeth. Bonding can be done in one visit and is less expensive than veneers. That said, Bonding has certain limitations that we will discuss with you prior to treatment.
Having one or more missing teeth can have a serious effect not only on your smile, but also on your dental health. Specifically, missing teeth can cause:
- A shift in the alignment of your teeth?
- Increased risk of periodontal disease
- Increased risk of tooth decay
- Loss of adjacent teeth
- Speech disorders
- Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)
Dental bridges are used to replace a missing tooth and are supported by the teeth on either side called abutment teeth. A dental bridge will improve your ability to chew and speak as well as enhance your smile. Dental bridges have been shown to reduce the risk of losing teeth that are adjacent to a missing tooth. In addition, dental bridges can help keep your jaw and face from changing shape, as they tend to do when a person has missing teeth.
